About Big Data from Space 2021

The Big Data from Space 2021 conference (BiDS'2021) was organized by the European Space Agency, the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, and the European Union Satellite Centre. Held virtually from May 18-20, 2021, the conference brought together researchers, data scientists, and industry professionals to advance geospatial intelligence and satellite data processing methodologies.

Our Mission

To advance the state of practice in satellite data science through knowledge sharing about scalable computing architectures, machine learning applications, and operational implementation strategies. The conference bridges the gap between research innovations and production systems while fostering cross-sector collaboration and technological exchange.

Conference History

Originally planned to be hosted by University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest with support from the Romanian Space Agency, BiDS'2021 successfully transitioned to a virtual format while maintaining its core objective of advancing geospatial intelligence. Operating under the theme "From Insights to Foresight," the conference has become a cornerstone event for satellite data science in Europe.
